Scott's Cruising For The Long HAL!

Holland America Line (HAL) has been sailing the high seas since 1873, sealing each cruise with a signature of excellence absorbing many into their cruising brand over the years. A great friend of mine is one who has been 'wowed' by HAL time after time, and is addicted to the cruising experience they offer on their unique and exquisite ships. His name is Scott Lara, and he hails from where the sunshine state begins, Jacksonville, Florida.

Scott is a great friend of mine who not only shares the same passion for cruising I do, but is captivated by politics and a great cup of coffee. He is my official HAL expert, and his cruising record validates my self-designated title to him. Scott has sailed a total 50 cruises to date, of which most were with Holland America Line. He gave me a great deal of insight on what a HAL encounter would entail in an interview last week.

Scott started by saying, "My wife and I prefer Holland America because there are fewer kids. Since our two kids are now grown, we prefer to be around adults and not kids running wild. There are times when the over 70 crowd are on HAL, but we have found that more the 40's and 50's crowd sail frequently on-board as well, and we enjoy that!" He went on to say they do offer a children's program on-board (but from my opinion, your children may enjoy Disney or Carnival Cruise Line more). He raved on how professional and attentive the staff is expressing, "They know I love chocolate, and my wife, Marty, enjoys having a diet coke with dinner. It's their efforts to know passengers by name and preference that make me feel valued."

He credits their attention to detail as a leading factor that keeps him cruising back for more, among other things such as: visits to Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay (HAL's private island), affordable prices, and outstanding cruise directors such as Jason Venner. Scott has great leverage on cruising HAL, and can be spotted sailing one of their unique vessels anytime of the year. If you're considering a HAL cruise vacation, you should definitely interact with Scott on Twitter directly, @scottlara1961, or via his many other accounts: @BretCruise@DonnyMarieCruz1, and/or @MonstersRockCru. Your ship awaits (one of his previous ships just might be yours), Bon Voyage!
